Damn that was just bloody epic. What an explosive conclusion to one of my favourite series of 2023. Thanks to author Jamie Edmundson for an arc copy and giving me the chance to read it early and let me tell you, if you have read the first two books, agh you are going to love it.
A Reckoning of Storm and Shadow is the third and final book from the Heirs Of War series. Did I mention it was epic already? Sorry, I had to mention it again. Jamie Edmundson has outdone himself with this one, the pure tension, the build up to the final battle with the God Ezenachi has you sitting on the edge of your seat with adrenaline from the very first page.
If you love epic fantasy, amazing worldbuilding and setting, a plot full of political intrigue, back stabbing, powerful magical battles between God’s and Champions, magical weapons, action-packed with strategic warfare, blood curdling battles, big giant lizards and a diverse cast of fantastic characters, then I implore you to check it out.
This epic saga is told from multiple pov’s over the series. My favourite characters have to be Sanc and Peyre. With so much loss in their lives, the journey I’ve taken with them has been emotional and emense, their growth into adulthood and who they’ve become, Peyre a powerful warrior and Sanc a powerful mage. But that’s just two characters. There are so many other amazing characters that you will love.
Jamie Edmundson has written and created a fantastic world of good versus evil for us fans of fantasy to lose ourselves in. This is why love reading fantasy so much, it just takes you away to new worlds, meet new friends along the way and take you on new adventures of a lifetime.
In this final chapter of the series, after two years of looking for help in another world.
Sanc continues his quest to unravel the mysteries of the gods of Silb, surviving battles along the way in the search of finding help to fight the God Ezenachi back in his home world of Dalriya He may have just found six champions to help him.
While Peyre, Esterel, Liesel, and people of Dalriya await his return, they face an uphill battle after losing the Gods weapons to Ezenachi, with no magic of their own there can be only one outcome, enslavement or death. Ezenachi and his enslaved armies of the turned are on the move, looking for more souls add to his army. Out sourced by a God, magic, magical weapons and hoards of turned. Their only hope is Sanc and his mission to bring back a miracle, or their world of Dalriya they know is gone forever.
Boom, what a bloody ending to a truly amazing series. If you haven’t checked out any of Jamie Edmundson’s books yet, The Weapons Takers series is brilliant and set in the same world as this ten years earlier and his Me Three series about a three headed Ogre will have you laughing your socks off. I very highly recommend….💙🔥⚡️🗡🏹
