French horror movies aren’t known for their subtleness or implied horror. They are full-on extreme and this trailer for Infested, nee Vermines, is no exception. Using real spiders, this eight-legged creature feature isn’t for arachnophobes unless desensitization therapy was prescribed by a therapist.
Trace Thurman over at Bloody Disgusting called it the “best ‘when spiders attack’ movie in over 30 years,” when he saw it at Fantastic Fest this past September. Rafael Motamayor of Slashfilm said, “The new French creature feature ‘Infested’ (aka “Vermin”) is best described as pure nightmare fuel on film,” in his Fantastic Fest review.
Our own reviewer Trey Hilburn said, “Infested is unnerving and seethes with second-to-second nail-biting terrors.”
In fact, the movie currently sits at a 90% on the Tomatometer just based on festival screenings alone.
If you are excited to watch it, you will have to wait for Shudder to announce where it will land in their programming slate, as it was announced the movie will get a future spot on the streaming channel’s original line-up. No firm date has been announced.
“Infested terrifies, on a multitude of levels. The film is full of horror, suspense and some serious bite,” said Emily Gotto, Shudder’s VP of global acquisitions, back in August of 2023 . “Sébastien is an incredibly talented director, and we are thrilled to bring his feature film debut to the Shudder audience.”
iHorror will keep you in the web of info as more details about its premiere are put forth. Until then, try not to be impressed by the teaser trailer, and let us know what you think.
